Team > Salvatore Barbera
Trained as a nuclear physicist, Salvatore first joined Greenpeace as an activist at the age of fifteen, and went on to spend seven years as a professional campaigner with the organisation, working across multiple offices on nuclear and climate issues. His campaigning took him to India, the Netherlands, Turkey, Israel, and Lebanon, where he worked on anti-nuclear mobilisation, fossil fuel phase-out, and building grassroots and media pressure on energy decision-makers across very different political and cultural contexts.
He later joined Change.org, contributing to the growth of people-powered campaigning across Southern Europe, and went on to co-found Latte Creative, a Rome-based communications studio working with non-profits and mission-driven organisations on narrative strategy and campaigns.
At SteelWatch, Salvatore leads the development of the corporate scorecard, sharpening how the world’s largest steel producers are assessed, compared, and held accountable on their decarbonisation pathways.
“The steel industry is one of the highest-impact places to fight climate change right now, and I want our work to make those emission cuts real and measurable.”
