Romain Su has dedicated a large part of his professional experience to sustainable development, in particular urban sustainable development, responsible supply chains and industrial decarbonisation. A 10-year-long stay in Poland gave him a deep understanding of the challenges faced by coal-addicted, fast-growing economies with strong industrial bases, but also a demonstration of the effectiveness of public policies, corporate actions and social movements in driving a green and just transition. Initially educated in public policies, Romain Su later trained himself in data science for use in journalistic work and independent consultancy assignments.

Like many other areas of our world economy and society, the steel industry operates today largely based on structures, ideas, technologies and practices from the 20th century. It is high time we all move to the 21st century.
