Cherry Achando is a Junior Researcher at SteelWatch. Prior to joining SteelWatch she worked on campaigning against steel finance with a keen focus on some of the largest steel producers in the world. She is skilled at research and passionate about climate change. She has a background in working with Civil Society Organisations in climate campaigning and protection of children’s futures through her work in climate litigation in previous roles. She enjoys reading, writing and advocating for a just transition to green steel production.
She holds a BA in Global Challenges from the African Leadership University in Kigali, Rwanda making her passionate about creating transformative change in the climate space in her country and the African continent.
I am driven by Africa’s desire to drive sustainable industrialization in the 4IR. With this, I understand the unique placement of the continent to leapfrog its development through sustainable means, investing in green infrastructure and adopting measures in line with the climate goals. I am motivated to be part of this change.
